Haida Gwaii is home to eight family medicine practices, four based in the Haida Gwaii Health Centre (serving Daajing Giids Queen Charlotte, HlG̱aagilda Skidegate, Tlell and Sandspit) and four based in the Northern Haida Gwaii Health Centre (serving Masset, G̱aw Old Masset, Tow Hill and Port Clements).

The family doctors working on Haida Gwaii are uniquely motivated and skilled to practice in remote and isolated settings. Most have also chosen to make Haida Gwaii their home and are deeply committed to the well-being of their communities. They provide a comprehensive service which includes routine and preventative care, as well as maternity, emergency and hospital care. Some have sought additional training to oversee chemotherapy treatments, under the supervision of the BC Cancer Agency. Working closely with visiting and off-island specialists, local family doctors strive to provide residents with access to the most up-to-date treatments while ensuring continuity of care. With the help of their dedicated office support staff, local physicians also assist their patients with the often-complex logistics of seeking off-island investigations and treatments.
